Shipping & postage

Crafted Market sellers arrange their own postage. Here's what you need to know to get orders to your buyers safely.

How it works

You handle your own postage

Unlike some marketplaces, Crafted Market does not arrange shipping on your behalf. When a buyer places an order, you pack and post it yourself — just as you would at a market stall or through your own website.

You set a flat shipping rate for your shop in your Shop Settings. This is added to the buyer's checkout total automatically. You can also offer free shipping over a threshold (for example, free shipping on orders over $100).

Once your order is packed, log into your Seller Hub, open the order, enter your tracking number, and mark it as shipped. The buyer will receive an email notification with their tracking details.

Our recommendation

Australia Post MyPost Business

For most WA makers, Australia Post MyPost Business is the simplest starting point. It's free to set up, integrates with an online lodgement portal, and gives you access to discounted parcel rates as your volume grows.

Flat-rate satchels and boxes available from Post Offices and online

Online lodgement — print labels at home, drop at any Post Office or red street box (for small items)

Discounted rates once you hit $500+ in postage per year

Tracking included on most parcel services

Multi-carrier platforms

If you want to compare rates across multiple carriers or automate your fulfilment workflow, multi-carrier shipping platforms are worth exploring. Two commonly used by small Australian sellers are:

Easyship

Aggregates rates from Australia Post, DHL, Aramex, and others. Shows buyers live rates at checkout. Good if you ship internationally or want rate comparison.

Shippit

Popular with Australian e-commerce sellers. Handles label printing, tracking, and carrier selection in one place. Integrates with Shopify and other platforms.

A note on carrier risk: relying on a single carrier means you're exposed if they have delays or service issues in your area. It's worth comparing your options — even a basic MyPost Business account alongside a backup carrier gives you flexibility when you need it.

Practical tips

Packing your orders

Wrap fragile items carefully — replace any damaged stock yourself costs more than decent packaging

Include a short handwritten thank-you note or a business card so buyers remember where they bought from

Set a realistic dispatch time in your product listings and stick to it — buyer expectations matter

Weigh a sample pack before setting your flat rate so you're not out of pocket on postage

Keep your tracking receipts until the order is confirmed delivered
